Walking in Scotland for the Average
Person!
Most guide books and web sites are published
by experienced hill walkers and mountaineers. I consider myself to
be a reasonably experienced hill walker and I am certainly very
safety conscious.
However, often I find when I follow the
guide books I am confronted by an obstacle which either my faithful
dog cannot scale or which I find offers too much exposure. Indeed, I
often wonder if the guide book writer has ever done the walk! These
stories are just intended to warn walkers of any likely problems
which may not appear in some guides.
This site gives my personal experiences and
I hope will help others, who, like myself, enjoy a good walk but
don't want to see a 1,000 feet sheer drop either side of a 1 foot
path!
These stories are not intended to be used as
a guide, they just provide additional information, not found in
published guides. If you are going walking in the Scottish
Highlands, please consult published guides for full information and
always take a OS map with you - and know how to read it!
I live on the East Coast of Sutherland so
most of my walking is done in Sutherland or Ross-shire. however if
you would like to submit a story of your experiences of hill walking
anywhere, please email it to mail@scottishhillwalks.co.uk
and include any photographs as attachments.
This site is free, please help us to cover

you.
